Synagogue Emanu-El observes all Jewish holidays, always striving to enhance the beauty and meaning of its religious services and celebrations.
Members of the Jewish and general community are welcome to participate in all of our services and activities. We welcome you to become involved in Jewish life in Charleston and to be a part of the exciting activities at Emanu-El.
Our central pillars of observance are our Shabbat services. Our High Holidays services convey a very special warmth and spirituality. The congregation holds daily morning services Monday through Friday and evening services Tuesday and Wednesdays.
At Synagogue Emanu-El, we pride ourselves in offering worship experiences that are traditional and accessible. They reflect our congregation’s values of egalitarianism and inclusiveness. We invite you to participate – by simply attending, by taking an honor during services, by leading a portion of the service, or by chanting from our sacred texts. We believe that the more you participate, the more fulfilling synagogue ritual will be.
Youth & Children
Our Bar and Bar Mitzvah celebrations are observed during the Shabbat Morning service with the Bat and Bar Mitzvah celebrant leading the service. Children are encouraged to participate in our ongoing adult services as well.
